An Indian national, charged in connection with a plan to assassinate a Sikh separatist on American soil, agreed to the plot after being assured that a criminal case against him in Gujarat would be dismissed, federal prosecutors in New York have alleged. India described as a 'matter of concern' the US charging the Indian national and asserted that a high-level probe committee will investigate all aspects of the case. The indictment is what Canada has been alleging in Hardeep Singh Nijjar's case and India must take it seriously, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said.

Israel and Hamas on November 30 agreed to extend their cease-fire by another day, just minutes before it was set to expire. Word of the extension came just as the truce was to expire at 7 a.m. (0500 GMT).

At least three Israelis were killed and six others injured when Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a bus stop in Jerusalem, breaking an uneasy peace in the city since the outbreak of the current round of violence in the region. Two off-duty soldiers and an armed civilian in the area are said to have returned fire, killing the two terrorists.

Ahead of the Winter session of Parliament, the government has convened a meeting of floor leaders of political parties in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on December 2. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi will hold the meeting which is expected to be attended by senior leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.

India accorded an initial approval to procure an additional batch of 97 Tejas light combat aircraft and around 150 Prachand helicopters to boost the overall combat capability of the armed forces, official sources said. It is learnt that mega procurement projects and the Su-30 upgrade programme are expected to cost the exchequer Rs 1.3 lakh crore.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, a Muslim body, has raised objections to a recent fashion show held in a local college where participants walked down the ramp wearing burqas. The controversy erupted after a video from the fashion show organised at Shri Ram College here on Sunday went viral on social media which showcased participants walking down the ramp in burqas.
