The Centre has told the Delhi High Court that the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana' and the national song 'Vande Mataram' "stand on the same level" and citizens should show equal respect to both.

While unlike the national anthem there are no penal provisions or official instructions about singing or playing 'Vande Mataram', the song occupies a unique place in the emotions and psyche of Indians and all directions of the high courts and the Supreme Court concerning the song are being followed, it said.

Top commanders of the Army will carry out a comprehensive review of India's national security challenges along the borders with China and Pakistan and ways to enhance combat prowess of the 1.3 million-strong force at a five-day conclave beginning Monday.

The commanders' conference will also focus on evolving regional security situation and geopolitical implications of the Russia-Ukraine war, officials said.

A case has been registered against three senior Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi for alleged unauthorised usage of the music from the blockbuster Kannada film 'KGF-2' during the party's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'.

The FIR was registered in the Yashwanthpur police station on Friday under the provisions of Copyright Act, the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code against Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and Supriya for using KGF-2 music for the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi on a complaint lodged by M Naveen Kumar, who manages MRT music.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday claimed his personal assistant was arrested after the ED failed to find anything during the raid on his house and alleged that the BJP was behind the development.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday questioned Sisodia's personal assistant in connection with its money laundering probe into alleged irregularities in the now scrapped excise policy, officials said.

Two months after former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a car accident, police in Maharashtra's Palghar district on Saturday registered a case against Dr Anahita Pandole for alleged rash driving.

A case under Indian Penal Code sections 304(A) (causing death by rash and negligent act), 279 (rash driving on a public road), 337 (causing death by act endangering life and personal safety of others) besides the Motor Vehicles Act at Kasa police station, officials said.

A court here sent the main accused in the murder case of Shiv Sena (Taksali) leader Sudhir Suri to seven-day police remand on Saturday.

The company posted a net loss of USD 270 million in the second quarter ended June 30, 2022 compared to a profit of USD 66 million in the same period a year ago.
