Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI investigation into allegations of crimes against women and land grabbing in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali, which had witnessed protests over the issues. The court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate allegations of crimes against women and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali and submit a comprehensive report to it on the next date of hearing.
Supreme Court refused to accept the affidavits filed by yoga guru Ramdev and managing director of Patanjali Ayurved Balkrishna tendering unconditional apologies over publishing 'misleading' advertisements, asserting they did so when 'caught on the wrong foot'. The apex court observed that after notices to show cause were issued to them and they were directed to present themselves before it, Ramdev and Balkrishna 'attempted to wriggle out' of the situation where personal presence was warranted.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of 'misleading' people on the CAA and 'facilitating' infiltrators for vote bank politics, emphasising that refugees should apply for citizenship without apprehension. "Mamata Didi is misleading people about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). She is saying that if you fill out the application, you will lose your citizenship. Why is she against refugees obtaining citizenship? Today, I have come to tell you that all the refugees should fill out the application without any fear, everyone will be given citizenship," he said.

Union Minister of State for Information Technology and Electronics Rajeev Chandrasekhar has sent a legal notice to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor accusing him of making defamatory statements against the BJP leader on a TV channel recently. The notice has claimed that the statements by Tharoor were made with an intent to harm Chandrasekhar's reputation and image and that his remarks also disrespected the entire Christian community of Thiruvananthapuram and its leaders by accusing them of engaging in cash-for-votes activities.
Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole said he escaped unhurt after a truck hit his car in Bhandara district of the state, with his party alleging that it was an attempt on his life. In a video message, Patole said, "Yesterday, a truck tried to hit our car intentionally near Bhandara. We were unhurt, but the vehicle got damaged badly. I am safe due to the blessings of people. We have filed a police complaint and the police will find out whether it is sabotage or something else."
