Jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal accused the BJP-led central government of denying insulin to her husband alleging that it wants to kill him. She claimed that her husband was jailed for working for the people 'Jan Seva' and no charges could be proved against him.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who was set to participate in the INDIA bloc rally in Ranchi, will not be able to attend as he 'took ill suddenly and is unable to leave New Delhi for the present', party leader Jairam Ramesh said. Besides Kharge, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita and former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's spouse Kalpana are expected to address the 'Ulgulan Nyay' rally in Ranchi, in a mega show of strength for opposition bloc Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
Union Home Minister Amit Shah could not attend a scheduled election rally in Darjeeling town of West Bengal as his helicopter failed to land due to inclement weather, a party leader said. Raju Bista, who is the local MP, said Shah might come to the hills at a later date before Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat goes to polls on April 26.
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the BJP is targeting her and her nephew and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and they do not feel safe. Himachal Pradesh BJP filed a complaint against the Congress and the Hamirpur Youth Congress Club for allegedly portraying actor and BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, in a negative light by using pictures from her films. In its complaint to the ECI, with copy to the Himachal chief electoral officer, the BJP alleged that the Congress has directed its various wings to assassinate the character of Kangana on social media.

India's net direct tax collections surged by a massive 17.7 per cent year-on-year to Rs 19.58 crore in the fiscal year ended March 2024, surpassing even revised estimates by a wide margin, the tax department said. The government had raised the target for direct tax collection in FY24 (April 2023 to March 2024) to Rs 19.45 lakh crore in the interim Budget presented on February 1.
Unknown gunmen killed two customs officers in western Pakistan, officials said, following the killing of five other customs officials in the area in recent days. Security in regions of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan has deteriorated in recent years.
Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai has suspended a PhD student for two years for allegedly indulging in activities which were 'not in the interest of the nation', and referred to instances like him participating in a protest in Delhi under the PSF-TISS banner. In a notice sent to Ramadas Prinisivanandan dated March 7, TISS referred to his role in screening the documentary 'Ram Ke Naam' on January 26 as a 'mark of dishonour and protest' against the Ram Mandir idol consecration in Ayodhya.
