Lok Sabha expelled Trinamul Congress MP Mahua Moitra after holding her guilty of sharing her credentials with others and accepting gifts from a businessman to extend favours. Minutes after her expulsion from the Lok Sabha, Moitra lashed out at the BJP for 'disregarding the due process' of natural justice and 'abusing every tenet' of law in meting out her punishment of the alleged cash-for-questions imbroglio. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condemned the decision to expel Moitra from the Lok Sabha in the ‘cash-for-query’ case, dubbing the move as 'betrayal' of the country’s parliamentary democracy.mentary panel is being weaponised by the government to force the opposition into submission.

Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) leader Lalduhoma was sworn in as the chief minister of Mizoram. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan where Mizo National Front leader and outgoing chief minister Zoramthanga was present.

BJP appointed senior leaders Rajnath Singh, Manohar Lal Khattar and Arjun Munda as central observers for electing the leader of the legislative party in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh respectively. According to a party statement, besides Singh, party leaders Saroj Pandey and Vinod Tawde are also being sent to Rajasthan as central observers.

Describing India as a strategic partner, the US has said it wants to deepen the relations with the country unabated on a range of issues but at the same time wants it to fully investigate the plot to assassinate a Sikh separatist in New York and hold accountable those responsible. “India is a strategic partner. We're deepening that strategic partnership. They're a member of the Quad in the Pacific. We participate with them on a range of issues and we want to see that continue unabated. That said, at the same time, we certainly recognise the seriousness of these allegations,” National Security spokesperson John Kirby told reporters at a White House news conference.

Reserve Bank retained the retail inflation projection for the current fiscal at 5.4 per cent but said inflation may see an uptick in November and December due to pressure on food prices. Reserve Bank of India raised the GDP growth projection for the current fiscal to 7 per cent from 6.5 per cent earlier on buoyant domestic demand and higher capacity utilisation in the manufacturing sector.

The government has banned exports of onion till March next year with a view to increase domestic availability and to keep prices in check. Local vendors in the national capital are selling onions at Rs 70-Rs 80 per kg.

Canada will more than double the cost-of-living financial requirement for incoming international students beginning January 1, Immigration Minister Marc Miller has announced, a move that will impact the arrival of foreign students into the country, including from India. India was the first among the top ten origin countries of study permit holders in 2022 in Canada, with a total of 319,000 students.

The pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad which hosted the ODI World Cup final between India and Australia on November 19 has been rated 'average' by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Australia had won the World Cup final after beating India by six wickets on a pitch which was slow and sluggish.
