Radical preacher Amritpal Singh was arrested in Rode village of Punjab's Moga district on Sunday morning after police personnel surrounded him, with no way to escape, a senior Punjab Police official said here. He has been taken to Dibrugarh in Assam under NSA, Inspector General of Police, Sukhchain Singh Gill told a news conference here.

"National Security Act warrants were issued against Amritpal Singh and these have been executed today morning. Further law will take its own course," Gill said.

After his arrest by Punjab Police earlier in the day, a special flight carrying radical preacher Amritpal Singh landed at Dibrugarh airport on Sunday from where he will been taken to the Central Jail located in Upper Assam town, officials said.

Security has been beefed up in Dibrugarh as pro-Khalistan radical preacher Amritpal Singh will be shifted to a prison in the Upper Assam town from Punjab on Sunday, police said.

On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has alot to say after Singh's arrest.

Mann said he was in touch with senior officials throughout Saturday night about the operation and asserted that those who try to disturb peace will face action as per law. In a video message on Sunday, Mann also thanked the people of Punjab for their cooperation and said he does not want the youth to be misled by people with vested interests who run their shops by driving a campaign against the country.

Punjab's land is fertile and anything can grow here, but "seeds of hatred will never grow nor will these be allowed to grow", the chief minister emphasised. Delhi chief minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, the AAP government is committed to ensure peace and security in Punjab for which it will even take "tough decisions".
