The Supreme Court declined to permit a married woman, a mother of two, to terminate her over 26-week pregnancy as the foetus was healthy and the AIIMS medical board found no abnormality with it. The top court said the foetus is 26 weeks and 5 days old and there is no immediate threat to the mother.

Delhi High Court asked the Centre to explain the exclusion of single, unmarried women from availing the benefit of the surrogacy procedure under the law. "Why marital status for intending woman? India’s largest IT services company TCS said it has fired 16 employees and barred six vendors in connection with a “recruitment scam”. “Our investigation found 19 employees to be involved…16 employees have been separated from the company for code of conduct violations, and three employees have been removed from the resource management function,” the company said in a statement.
