Ethics panel approves Mahua Moitra report in 6:4 split verdict, it will be sent to anti-corruption panel on November 10. The TMC MP  wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, claiming there was a 'serious breach of privilege' after a private news channel accessed a confidential draft report of a parliamentary panel on her alleged unethical conduct.

The air quality in Delhi was recorded in the 'severe' category, with a marginal improvement expected just ahead of Diwali as meteorological conditions are likely to become slightly favourable. Environment Minister Gopal Rai said all ministers of the Delhi government will work at the ground level to ensure strict implementation of air pollution control measures in the national capital.

Street battles raged in Gaza City with Hamas fighters using tunnels to ambush Israeli forces, as the United States said Palestinians must govern Gaza post-war, countering Israeli comments that it would control security indefinitely. Hamas' armed wing on November 8 released a video that appeared to show intense street battles alongside bombed out buildings in Gaza City.

In a significant verdict aimed at fast-tracking trial in more than 5,000 criminal cases against lawmakers, the Supreme Court directed high courts to set up a special bench to monitor cases for their speedy disposal. The bench said that multiple local factors made it difficult for the top court to 'frame uniform or standard guideline for trial courts across the length and breadth of this country' and it left the issue of ensuring speedy trial to the high courts as they have the power of superintendence over the trial courts.

Trinamul Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee appeared before the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in connection with its probe into the alleged school jobs scam in West Bengal. Banerjee, after coming out of the ED office, said that he has nothing to hide and is always ready to cooperate with the central agency in its probe.

The Manipur government has lifted the mobile internet ban in four hill district headquarters which have not been affected by ethnic strife, officials said. Two bodies, including that of a woman, with bullet wounds were recovered in Imphal East and West districts. The Manipur government extended mobile internet ban across the state by five more days till November 13.

A BSF head constable was killed in unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers along the International Border (IB) in the Ramgarh sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district. On October 17, two BSF personnel had been injured in unprovoked firing by the rangers in the Arnia sector.

Varun Raj Pucha, the 24-year-old Indian student who was stabbed at a fitness centre in the US state of Indiana, has succumbed to his injuries, the university where he was studying has said. Following the incident, the attacker was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
