Manipur government has constituted a three-member committee to make a detailed inquiry into fuel leak from a power plant in Imphal valley and spilling into streams flowing alongside, an official notification said. The three-member committee will also inquire into the contributing factors that led to such an incident, suggest immediate and long-term measures for the safety and security of the plant, the notification said, adding that the committee shall submit its report to the state government within 15 days.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at the residences of West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services Minister Sujit Bose, TMC MLA Tapas Roy and former North Dumdum Municipality chairman Subodh Chakraborty in connection with its probe into the irregularities in recruitments in civic bodies. The central agency officers also raided Tapas Roy's BB Ganguly Street residence and Chakraborty's residence in Birati, he said.

Supreme Court refused to stay the new law that provides for appointment of the chief election commissioner and election commissioners by a panel excluding the Chief Justice of India. The bench asked senior advocate Vikas Singh, appearing for Congress leader Jaya Thakur, who sought a stay on the new law, to serve a copy of the petition to the Centre's counsel.

The case of attack on an interfaith couple in Haveri district has taken a new twist with the woman alleging gangrape as the incident took a political colour with the opposition BJP targeting the Siddaramaiah government on the issue. The seven men who allegedly barged into a hotel room and attacked the couple at Hangal in Haveri district were charged with gangrape after the 26-year-old victim complained that she was sexually assaulted by them, police said.

Pankaj Tripathi has voluntarily stepped down as the National Icon of the Election Commission of India (ECI) as the actor is playing a real-life political figure in 'Main Atal Hoon'. "It is a normal process. The news has come out now but I had written to the ECI before the release of the film's trailer," the National Award-winning actor said.
