New challenges are emerging from the incidents in West Asia and it is time for the countries of the Global South to talk in one voice for greater global good, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said amid the Hamas-Israel conflict. 'We are seeing that new challenges are emerging from developments in West Asia,' he said.

An aide of a Congress candidate was killed after two groups fought in the Rajnagar constituency of Madhya Pradesh and a few clashes were reported in other parts of the state, where assembly elections are being held, officials said. Working overnight with a powerful machine, rescue workers had drilled up to 22 metres through the rubble in Silkyara tunnel, inching closer to the 40 labourers trapped there for five days. 'The trapped workers have been provided food. They are fine. The auger machine is also working well. Five terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. Security forces had launched a cordon-and-search operation in Nehama village of Kulgam following information about the presence of terrorists in the area on November 16, the officials said.
One person was arrested and three others were detained in connection with the killing of a Trinamul Congress panchayat pradhan in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on November 16, police said. He was killed three days after the murder of another TMC panchayat member at Joynagar in neighbouring South 24 Parganas district.
A court in Varanasi will hear on November 18 an application filed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), seeking 15 more days to submit its report of a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex. The ASI carried out the scientific survey of the Gyanvapi premises, located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, to determine whether the 17th-century mosque was constructed over a pre-existing structure of a Hindu temple.
