Accusing the Enforcement Directorate of being 'petty' and 'politicising' what he ate in jail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asserted before a court that the food he consumed was in conformity with the diet chart prepared by his doctor. Kejriwal's counsel launched a spirited assault on the federal anti-money agency over its claim that the AAP national convenor was eating food laden with sugar so he can fall ill and seek bail on medical grounds.
Incidents of intimidation and firing were reported from at least two places in Inner Manipur constituency where voting for the Lok Sabha polls is currently underway, officials said. Unidentified armed men also intimidated election agents of a particular political party at different places and asked them to leave the polling stations, they said.

West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has issued a notice announcing the adoption of a semester system of education for classes 11 and 12 in all state-run and state-aided schools. Under the new system, the higher secondary or 10+2 course now comprises four parts - semester 1, 2, 3, and 4. Class 11 has been redesigned as semester 1 and 2, while class 12 has been restructured as semester 3 and 4, the notice said.
Consumer Affairs Ministry said it has asked the food safety regulator FSSAI to investigate the composition of Nestle's Cerelac baby cereals sold in India, amid a global report that claimed the company was adding higher sugar content in the product. According to findings by Swiss NGO, Public Eye and International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN), Nestle sold baby products with higher sugar content in less developed South Asian countries including India, Africa and Latin American nations as compared to markets in Europe.
Indian embassy in the UAE advised the inbound Indian passengers travelling to or transiting through Dubai International Airport to reschedule non-essential travel till operations normalise after the city witnessed unprecedented rains this week. The embassy in the advisory said while the UAE authorities were working round the clock to ensure normalisation of operations, the airport authorities have advised that passengers may travel to the airport 'only after' final confirmation from the respective airlines regarding the departure date and time of flights.
Six districts of eastern Nagaland wore a deserted look as people stayed indoors following an indefinite shutdown call by the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO), an apex body of the seven tribal organisations of the area, to press for its demand for a separate state. US vetoed a resolution in the UN Security Council on a Palestinian bid to be granted full membership of the United Nations. The resolution got 12 votes in its favour, with Switzerland and the UK abstaining and the US casting its veto.
A special court in Mumbai granted bail to Yes Bank co-founder Rana Kapoor in the Rs 466.51 crore bank fraud case, paving the way for him to walk out of jail after four years. The banker has now secured bail in all the cases.
