Women MPs from the Trinamul Congress on held a protest in Parliament premises against Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s 'misogynistic' remarks targeting TMC leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. "We heard the remarks yesterday, and they are absolutely shameful, misogynistic, patriarchal. The ethics panel inquiry report on Trinamul Congress parliamentarian Mahua Moitra would be tabled in the Lok Sabha on December 8, sources said. While Opposition members have demanded a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the report before any decision was taken on the matter, leader of the Trinamul parliamentary party Sudip Bandyopadhyay said that the party has urged Speaker Om Birla to allow Moitra to publicly defend herself on the floor of the house.
On December 5, Cyclone 'Michaung' hit the coast of Andhra Pradesh with destructive winds and heavy rains, flattening thousands of acres of standing crops, inflicting huge losses on farmers in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to release in advance the second instalment of the Centre's contribution to the SDRF of Rs 493.60 to Andhra Pradesh and Rs 450 crore to Tamil Nadu in view of the floods caused by cyclone Michaung, Union Minister Amit Shah said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the Union Home Ministry to release Rs 450 crore, the second instalment to Tamil Nadu for cyclone relief, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said.

Several moviegoers in three different Greater Toronto Area regions in Canada were evacuated and some were treated for exposure to an unknown substance sprayed by masked men in theatres playing Hindi movies earlier this week, according to police and media reports. Numerous movie-goers started coughing after two men in masks and hoods sprayed an 'unknown, aerosol-based, irritating substance into the air' in a theatre, the police said.
