Sidharth Malhotra’s suspended soldier Arun single-handedly fights terrorists to rescue passengers aboard a hijacked plane amidst media reports of him being in cahoots with the hijackers in the trailer of Yodha, dropped by the makers on Thursday.

Ever since he was a child, Arun wanted to grow up and become an army officer like his father, reveals the two-minute-49-second-long trailer. The first half of the video takes viewers through the protagonist’s backstory, showing his impulsive side and a drive for action. It also shows light-hearted scenes of Sidharth channelling his inner Shah Rukh Khan as tries the latter’s signature arms-stretched-out pose in front of his girlfriend, played by Raashii Khanna, and recreates the Bade Bade Deshon Mein dialogue from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

The video soon cuts to a trial scene where a judge suspends Sidharth and his entire team, causing him to break down emotionally.

Recalling his father’s motivational words, Arun gets back on his feet and prepares himself for an uncalled, off-duty mission — to protect hijacked passengers on a plane and bring them to safety on the ground. The situation escalates further when media reports portray Sidharth as the leader of the hijackers, which might just be a part of his strategy.

With the help of an air-hostess, played by Disha Patani, Sidharth contacts the air base on the ground and tries to figure out the identities of the terrorists. “Whether I exist or not, my country will always exist,” he says in one of the scenes, showcasing his patriotic side before a fight inside the cargo hold of the plane.

The trailer ends with an adrenaline-fueled action sequence where Sidharth is a lone soldier pitted against a group of terrorists.

“Be seated because it’s time for some unabashed action, thrill & adrenaline as our #Yodha takes over! See you at the big screens!!!✈️ #YodhaTrailer out now! Yodha in cinemas March 15,” Karan Johar, who has produced the film, wrote alongside the trailer posted on Instagram.

Sharing the trailer on Instagram, Sidharth wrote, “A soldier, a hijack, and countless mysteries within. Catch the #Yodha in action as he takes flight on a mission like no other ✈️🔥.”

Directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha, Yodha is a joint venture of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Amazon Prime.

Backed by Karan, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan, Yodha is slated to release in theatres on March 15.
