Timothee Chalamet’s passionate chocolate-maker Willy Wonka invents chocolates that can make humans fly in the recently released trailer of Wonka, a musical fantasy film that revolves around Willy’s journey of setting up a chocolate shop in a fictional town dominated by a chocolate cartel.
Dropped by Warner Bros. Pictures on Tuesday, the two-minute-27-second-long trailer begins with a young Willy talking about how he has travelled the world for seven years to learn all about chocolate before landing in the fictional town.
Willy starts experimenting with chocolates to come up with recipes that can win over the people living in the town. One of his recipes — chocolate that can make people fly — becomes the centre of attention, bringing Willy in the crosshairs of the chocolate catel.
Up against the odds, Willy remembers his mothers words — “Every good thing in the world started with a dream” — and goes on to fulfil his dreams.
The trailer also shows glimpses of Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson as a priest, Sally Hawkins as Willy Wonka’s mother and Hugh Grant as Oompa Loompa.

Helmed by Paddington director Paul King, who co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Farnaby, the film serves as a prequel to the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, based on the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
Timothee Chalamet follows in the footsteps of Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp to play Willy Wonka in the film. Wonka also features Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, S Jim Carter and Tom Davis in supporting roles.
Wonka is scheduled to release in theatres on December 15.
