Aamir Khan, who turned 59 yesterday, did a live Instagram session to interact with his fans on his birthday and granted a wish of mine by answering a question that has been on many of our minds.

As Aamir invited questions from the audience, I slipped in one for him — “Will we ever get to see the three Khans share screen space in future, like we recently saw at an event in Jamnagar?”

And pat came Aamir’s reply! “Even I think we should do a film together. When we were together (at Jamnagar) — Shah Rukh, Salman and me — we were also contemplating that we must do a film together for our audiences. So, we had this thought, now let’s see what happens. I hope if a good script is offered, we will definitely do it. I think all three of us are very keen to work with each other,” the Lagaan actor said.

Responding to a follow-up query from another fan, Aamir revealed that filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi is developing the script for the sequel of Andaz Apna Apna, the 1994 comedy in which he directed Aamir, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. While the project is still in its nascent stages, the Dangal actor expressed his satisfaction that Santoshi has initiated the creative process and he hopes it would be a delight for both the cast and the audiences.

Thursday’s live session was not only an opportunity for well-wishers to convey their birthday greetings but also served as a stage for Aamir to make these significant announcements, leaving fans buzzing with excitement.

During the interaction, Aamir disclosed that it was a working birthday for him as he was shooting for his new project, Sitaare Zameen Par. Touted to be a comedy, the film will reunite the actor-director with his Taare Zameen Par co-star Darsheel Safary. Aamir said they were planning to release Sitaare Zameen Par later this year.

Throughout the session, Aamir also kept trying to connect actor Ravi Kishan as one of the participants of the Instagram live but couldn’t due to technical glitches. Ravi Kishan was most recently seen in Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, a film that Aamir has co-produced with Rao and Jyoti Deshpande. Aamir said the climax of Laapataa Ladies had really moved him.
