The Mission Impossible star had last teamed up with Warner Bros. Pictures nearly a decade back when he starred in the Doug Liman-helmed sci-fi action film Edge of Tomorrow opposite Emily Blunt.

Cruise’s other ventures with the aforementioned film and entertainment studio include Rock of Ages (2012), The Last Samurai (2003), Magnolia (1999), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Interview with the Vampire (1994), Risky Business (1983) and The Outsiders (1983).

The partnership between Warner Bros. Pictures and the 61-year-old actor is albeit not exclusive. Cruise will continue to work with Paramount, where he is currently filming Mission: Impossible 8, and Universal, where he is involved in the production of a USD 200 million shot-in-space movie directed by Doug Liman. The actor is set to achieve the milestone of becoming the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the International Space Station with the forthcoming sci-fi action film.

Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group’s Co-Chairs and CEOs Micael De Luca and Pam Abdy represented the company during the signing of the strategic partnership.

“We are thrilled to be working with Tom, an absolute legend in the film industry...when we first sat down with David Zaslav to talk about joining the Warner Bros Discovery team, he said to us, ‘We are on a mission to bring Warner Bros back...and we need to bring Tom Cruise back to Warner Bros!’ Today, that becomes a reality and we are one step closer to achieving our ambition,” De Luca and Abdy said in a joint statement.

Cruise was last seen in Christopher McQuarrie’s spy action film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One that emerged as the tenth highest grossing hit of 2023.
