This one is a jubilant musical journey set against the backdrop of gang wars. Tangra Blues follows two people who go through various highs and lows of life, wrestling with the memories of the past and struggles of the present to create a foundation for a hopeful future. Parambrata and Madhumita play the protagonists of the film along with Saimul Alam, Oishani Dey and Atmadeep Ghosh.

Extensively shot in a Calcutta slum, Tangra Blues tells the story of a young music-maker Joyee (played by Madhumita), who escapes the glitz of Mumbai to stay in a posh apartment adjacent to Tangra. She becomes fascinated by the performances of a music band, made solely out of the raw talents of young slum kids. With time she meets Sanjib Mondal (played by Parambrata), the leader of the band, who eventually changes the course of Joyee’s life. The film depicts the turmoil in the lives of the characters, their jubilant musical journey and violent gang wars.

After Love Aaj Kal Porshu and Cheeni,Tangra Blues — directed by Supriyo Sen — is Madhumita’s third movie. “Shooting for Tangra Blues has been a memorable experience with challenges and fun at the same time. Madhumita has been an amazing co-actor,” said Parambrata.

Excited about working in this project, Madhumita said, “This is the first time I am working with Parambrata and Supriyo and the experience has been lovely by far. I fell in love with the script from the very beginning and knew I had to do something special with my character. The story of Tangra Blues is very deep and powerful and I hope it will live up to the expectations of the audience.”
