Netflix has dropped a teaser of the reality show Squid Game: The Challenge in which contestants will compete in survival games for a heavy cash prize of USD 4.56 million.

Sharing the one-minute-three-second-long video on YouTube, the streamer wrote on Friday, “What would 456 real people do for 4.56 million dollars? Squid Game: The Challenge, the new competition series based on our biggest show ever, premieres November 22 only on Netflix.”

Squid Game: The Challenge is inspired from the 2021 Korean thriller series of the same name, which is centred around hundreds of cash-strapped players who accept a strange invitation to compete in childrens’ games and win a tempting prize money. However, after entering the game arena, they find themselves forced to participate in vicious games that toy with their lives.

Beginning with a gigantic doll from the 2021 original series, the teaser also gives a glimpse into the creators and managers of the deadly games as they wear red boiler suits and maintain their anonymity.

“You will now compete for the biggest cash prize in reality show history,” declares one of the game commentators through a megaphone.

The contestants are shown entering the game arena and participating in various games similar to the Korean series. However, the challenges that would be faced by the participants have not been disclosed yet.

Squid Game: The Challenge has been co-produced by Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt and Toni Ireland from Studio Lambert and John Hay, Nicola Hill and Nicola Brown from The Garden. The series will hit Netflix on November 22.
