Sara Ali Khan has a “lot of Saif's wittiness”, filmmaker Homi Adajania said at the trailer launch event of his upcoming crime thriller Murder Mubarak, slated to drop on streaming platform Netflix on March 15.

Adajania, who had worked with Saif Ali Khan in his directorial debut Being Cyrus (2006), drew parallels between the father-daughter duo, emphasising their quick thinking and sharp humour. “He (Saif) thinks really fast and he's extremely funny. I think we are pretty much on the same wavelength. We don't have to complete sentences, we get each other's horribly bizarre dark humour and I found that it was the same with Sara,” said the 52-year-old director at the event on Monday.

Highlighting his effortless camaraderie with Sara, Adajania added, “We got each other, there's no explaining to do. We didn't have to know each other for that long. So I think it's the sharpness of Saif, she's a very smart girl.”

The 28-year-old actress plays a murder suspect in Murder Mubarak that also stars Karisma Kapoor, Vijay Varma, Dimple Kapadia, Sanjay Kapoor, Tisca Chopra and Suhail Nayyar in key roles. The trailer, dropped by the makers on February 5, features Pankaj Tripathi as a jovial cop on the hunt for a magician’s murderer among seven Delhi socialites.

The crime thriller, based on Anuja Chandan’s best-selling novel Club you to Death, is produced by Maddock Films.

On the work front, Sara will also portray a young freedom fighter Usha Rani in Dharmatic Entertainment and Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming patriotic film Ae Watan Mere Watan, slated to premiere on March 21.
