Close on the heels of WGA’s decision of ending their five-month-long Hollywood writers’ strike, the members of the on-strike SAG-AFTRA have decided to hold a meeting with the representatives of major studios and streamers for negotiation on October 2, the American actors’ body said on Thursday.

“To Our #SagAftraMembers: SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP will meet for bargaining on Monday, Oct. 2. Several executives from AMPTP member companies will be in attendance. As negotiations proceed, we will report any substantiative updates directly to you,” the official X (formerly Twitter) page of SAG-AFTRA shared on Thursday.

Members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) voted unanimously to end the writers’ strike in Hollywood on Wednesday. Their decision was based on a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) — a body that represents Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, NBC Universal, Paramount and Sony.

SAG-AFTRA, short for Screen Actors Guild — American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, also mentioned that several executives from AMPTP will attend the negotiations on October 2, where the actors will need to cast their votes to officially approve the contract.

WGA informed its members on Wednesday via email that ending the strike will enable them to continue working while the voting process takes place.

Film and television production in many Hollywood studios have been on a standstill since members of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA went on a strike for better compensation and limited use of artificial intelligence on May 2.

The WGA's decision to end the strike marks the official end of the work stoppage after 148 days.
