It was not a good beginning to the weekend for Prabhas-starrer Salaar and Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki as both the movies faced a significant dip in their box office collections on their third Fridays since their releases.

While Salaar’s collection plummeted to Rs 3.30-3.50 crore nett on its third Friday, Rajkumar Hirani-helmed Dunki registered its lowest earnings in India with Rs 1,65 crore on its 16th day in theatres, as per trade reports.

Also starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Prashanth Neel-directed Salaar’s performance is a departure from its smooth run in the first two weeks. The actioner commenced its box office journey on December 22, 2023, with an impressive opening of Rs 90 crore nett and went on to accumulate Rs 308 crore in Week 1 and Rs 70.1 crore in Week 2. As of its 15th day in cinemas, Salaar has garnered a total of Rs 381.60 crore nett in India.

Despite riding on Shah Rukh’s record-breaking spree at the box office with Pathaan and Jawan, Dunki never took off at the domestic box office as it could manage only Rs 208.2 crore nett in India after its December 21 release.

The overall success of Salaar comes as a respite for Prabhas, who had faced a massive setback after Adipurush bombed at the box office in 2023. Meanwhile, Dunki is Shah Rukh’s third release of the year. While his previous films Jawan and Pathaan were blockbusters, Dunki has not been able to match up to them in terms of box office performance.
