Pyaar hota kayi baar hai

My top three party songs for 2023 were Pyaar hota kayi baar hai by Arijit Singh, Queencard by (G)I-DLE, and Flowers by Miley Cyrus. The Pyaar hota kayi baar hai music video reminded me of Bachna ae haseeno and Badtameez dil where Ranbir Kapoor was dancing, like old times with his ‘chocolate face’. Arijit’s voice was the cherry on the top. The music makes sure you groove. With this song, Arijit again proved that he is not just a singer with a bucket of breakup songs only.

Queencard by K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE smashed the charts and I watched the music video for months and every performance on loop and screamed my lungs out while singing. With crazy music and crazy choreography, this song is always ready to lift your mood. This song has funky, yet enjoyable verses and I am for it any day.

As a fan of Miley since her Hannah Montana days, seeing her breaking all the records, made my heart full. And Flowers being a song about heartbreak that didn’t sound like one was what was new about Miley’s music last year. These three songs not only top my 2023 list but will be on my list every year. (Which were the top 3 party songs for you in 2023... December 28)

Purbasha Palit

I am not good at dancing but when party songs are on, it is impossible to control myself. This year, there were three songs which kept me rooted to the dance floor. Both the songs Jamal kudu (Animal) and Leke prabhu ka naam (Tiger 3) had me dancing and raised my spirits as well. Tum kya mile (Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani) was a great number for couples to groove to.

Dayita Chakraborty

According to the trend, the most popular party song is Jamal kudu from Animal. This song is everywhere and almost on all the reels that you will find on social media. The second most trending song is What jhumka? (Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani). In every street corner of Calcutta during the festive season, this song could be heard playing. Lastly, Besharam rang from Pathaan has been playing in every club and house party and was one of 2023’s most viral songs. I loved how all these songs hit differently when played in clubs and large open spaces on giant music systems and sound boxes.

Out of an assorted list of party songs released in 2023, I would pick Jhoome jo Pathaan, Pyaar hota kayi baar hai and Main parwaana as my top favourites. Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone picturised Jhoome jo Pathaan from the action film Pathaan set the tone for 2023 in style. Composed of a speck of Arabic fusion and delightful cinematography, this catchy song secures a slot in every music buff’s playlist. SRK’s dishevelled hair and cool shades can make heads turn effortlessly. Truly magnetic!

From Badtameez dil to Pyaar hota kayi baar hai, Ranbir Kapoor has delivered back-to-back bangers exhibiting his unrivalled finesse as a dancer. Running high on energy, this song can magically raise one’s spirit, infusing positivity in them. The line, ‘Woh dil kya bhala jo toota na kabhi’ motivates us to enjoy every moment of our life rather than dwelling on heartbreaks. The way lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya has summarised the life of a young adult in this song is remarkable.

Main parwaana from the espionage drama film Pippa is a chirpy, foot-tapping song reliving the nostalgia of the ‘70s. Picturised on Ishaan, this song feels like a sweet tribute to veteran actor Shammi Kapoor who was hailed as an effervescent hero of that generation. The fact that this song was shot in a single take proves Ishaan’s adroitness as an actor and his potential to rise above expectations. Special shout-out to Ishaan for his perfect expressions which add a dash of brilliance to this masterpiece!

Aayman Anwar Ali

Chaleya by Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao: Arijit rocked with this groovy yet soothing song from Jawan that drove almost every reel-maker to do the hook steps. The duo of Arijit and Shilpa always works magic.

Show me the thumka by Sunidhi Chauhan and Shashwat Singh: This song from Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar became an instant hit at parties and especially for wedding soirees. Sunidhi and Shashwat’s energetic voices paired very well and made this number worth grooving to.

Gulabi sharara by Inder Arya: This local Uttarakhandi song became an overnight Internet sensation that made many dancers and video creators groove and do the hook-step.

Jamal kudu, the epic number from Animal. Its mesmerising tune, the noisy, background notes of the song and Bobby Deol’s way of presenting himself, created magic.

Next is Not ramaiya vastavaiya from the extended version of Jawan. The star cast-heavy film and the double dhamaka dancing simply burnt the floor and won the hearts of fans.

And last but certainly not the least, Main nikla gaddi leke from Gadar 2. The onscreen father-son duo, flashy background setting and the nostalgia related to the song simply added to the heat of summer in 2023.

Ushree

My top picks are Kanhaiya Twitter pe aaja, Tere vaaste and What jhumka?. I can listen to Kanhaiya Twitter pe aaja from The Great Indian Family again and again on a party night. The lyrics of this song are very contemporary. The tune has an extra dose of sweetness which is usually absent in dance numbers. Singer Nakash Aziz spread harmony among his listeners with this lovely musical track.

Tere vaaste is a combination of love and rhythm. Again, Vicky Kaushal created magic on screen with this foot-tapping song. So for obvious reasons, this passionate dance track from Zara Hatke Zara Bachke made a place in my favourites list with its melodious, romantic appeal.

What jhumka? from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is popular. This retro-influenced song is very colourful. It completes my party playlist with its beats and happy rhythms.

Sarbani Banerjee

My top three party songs from 2023 are What jhumka?, Pyaar hota kai baar hai and Khalasi.

Resham Das

For me, the top three party songs of 2023 were Jhoome jo Pathaan (Pathaan), Main khiladi (Selfiee) and Mon bajare from the Bengali film Abar Bibaho Obhijaan.
