New season of Doctor Who, with Sex Education actor Ncuti Gatwa in the titular role for the first time, is set to premiere on Disney+ in May, Disney Branded Television and BBC have announced. This will be the first-ever season to debut on Disney+ and release simultaneously worldwide.
Set to captivate audiences across the Whoniverse, the new season is slated to commence on May 10 at 7pm EDT on Disney+ in the U.S. and internationally. Meanwhile, UK viewers can join the adventure on Saturday, May 11, at 12am GMT on BBC iPlayer, followed by BBC One later the same day.
“Your cosmic joyride awaits! See the trailer in ONE WEEK and stream #DoctorWho starting Friday, May 10 on #DisneyPlus,” the streamer wrote on X alongside a poster featuring the Fifteenth Doctor, portrayed by Ncuti Gatwa, alongside his intrepid companion Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson.
The new season will see the duo travel through space and time in the infinite realms of the TARDIS. From the elegance of the Regency era in England to dystopian futures plagued by war, the dynamic duo stands as champions of justice, encountering both extraordinary allies and formidable adversaries.
Joining the ensemble cast are esteemed guest stars including Aneurin Barnard, Anita Dobson, Yasmin Finney, Michelle Greenidge, Jonathan Groff, Bonnie Langford, Genesis Lynea, Jemma Redgrave, Lenny Rush, Indira Varma, and Angela Wynter.
Doctor Who is a collaborative production between Bad Wolf and BBC Studios. The upcoming season showcases episodes directed by Ben Chessell, Jamie Donoughue, Julie Anne Robinson, and Dylan Holmes Williams.
A brand-new trailer of the new season will be released by the makers on March 22.
