Netflix has dropped fresh behind-the-scenes pictures featuring Amar Singh Chamkila stars Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh from the sets of the upcoming Imtiaz Ali directorial ahead of its April 12 premiere. Here’s a look.
Diljit, who takes on the role of the eponymous rockstar in the film, posed with Parineeti in front of a mustard field. The 35-year-old actress essays the role of Chamkila’s singing partner and wife, Amarjot. While Diljit posed in a chequered kurta paired with white dhoti, Parineeti was clad in a blue salwar suit.

Diljit, whose charismatic personality brings to life the captivating story of the legendary folk singer, shared a warm bond with everyone present on set.

“Chamkila ki kahaani se jude jaazbaat aur jaadu ki ek khaas jhalak (A glimpse into the magic and emotions surrounding Chamkila’s story),” the streamer wrote alongside the carousel. The storyline of the upcoming Imtiaz Ali directorial illustrates how a young Amar Singh Chamkila transitioned from a worker at a sock-manufacturing company to a popular folk singer in Punjab. However, the alleged vulgar lyrics of his songs led to violent protests, which ultimately resulted in his untimely death.
