A Netflix series on the Spanish singer Julio Iglesias is in the pipelines, the streaming platform confirmed on social media with a short teaser on Thursday.
The teaser starts with a midnight blue backdrop with Iglesias’s silhouette against it. The words ‘Julio Iglesias’ gets illuminated in neon pink under the silhouette. The neon sign then prompts ‘a Netflix series’ ending with the message that the show is coming soon on the platform.
“Julio Iglesias is one of the most important figures in music history and he’s finally ready to tell his story! For the first time, the living legend will be part of the creative process and help bring to life a Netflix series that chronicles his incredible musical trajectory,” Netflix wrote in the caption.
Sharing the post on his social media account, Iglesias acknowledged his involvement in the project. He said in a statement that he agreed to share his story with the platform after the coaxing of Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria.
In a career spanning over 56 years, the Spanish singer-songwriter has secured 20 titles on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, with 11 of them reaching the top 10 and three hitting the Number 1 spot. His song Lo Mejor de tu Vida was at the top of the Billboard for 13 weeks in 1987.
Not limiting his musicality to the Spanish language, Iglesias has recorded and sung in 12 languages.
