National Cinema Day returns on October 13 with flat Rs 99 offer across 4000+ screens

The Multiplex Association of India organises the one-day event in collaboration with leading cinema chains like PVR-INOX and Cinepolis

The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) is set to offer tickets at a flat Rs 99 across some of the leading cinema halls across the country to celebrate National Cinema Day on October 13.

However, the offer will not be valid for premium formats like IMAX, 4DX or recliner seats.

“National Cinema Day is back on October 13th. Join us at over 4000+ screens across India for an incredible cinematic experience, with movie tickets priced at just Rs. 99. It's the perfect day to enjoy your favourite films with friends and family,” the official handle of MAI posted on X on Thursday along with an official statement about the event.

“Mark your calendars for Friday, October 13th, as The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and cinemas all over India unite once again to bring you National Cinema Day. This annual celebration of cinema has gained immense popularity among film enthusiasts, and this year's edition promises to be bigger and better than ever before,” MAI’s statement says.

“National Cinema Day this year will unfold across more than 4000 participating screens, including renowned cinemas like PVR INOX, CINEPOLIS, MIRAJ, CITYPRIDE, ASIAN, MUKTA AZ, MOVIE TIME, WAVE, M2K, DELITE, and many others,” the statement mentions.

Like last year, several single-screen owners are expected to participate in the one-day extravaganza. MAI also hinted at the possibility of some additional offers on tickets and food and beverage (F&B) items on National Cinema Day. These special offers and surprises will be available at the participating cinemas, on their official websites and on their social media channels.

National Cinema Day made headlines in 2022 when it achieved record-breaking success. The event saw an astonishing 6.5 million admissions in a single day, marking the highest-ever turnout for a single day in Indian cinema history.

One notable success story from National Cinema Day 2022 was R. Balki’s mystery thriller Chup: Revenge of the Artist which managed to collect Rs 3 crore nett on that day alone, according to Box Office India. Additionally, Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva earned an impressive Rs 8.50 crore nett, on that day.
