Miley Cyrus clinched her first golden gramophone in the Best Pop Solo Performance category for her song Flowers from her 2023 studio album Endless Summer Vacation.

A visibly emotional Cyrus thanked her mother, her sister and the entire team which contributed to the making of the song. “This award is amazing....But I really hope it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday,” added the 31-year-old singer.

The eight-time nominated singer went on to celebrate her win with a live performance of Flowers.

After opening her Grammy account, Cyrus bagged another Grammy on the night as Flowers also won the Record of the Year.

Dua Lipa debuts new songs, gives Barbie nod during opening act

Three-time Grammy-winner Dua Lipa opened the ceremony with a medley of her new songs Training Season and Houdini, the first two songs from her upcoming third studio album, amid raucous cheers from the audience.

Rocking an all-black leather-and-mesh ensemble, paired with knee-high platform boots, Lipa danced around an enormous cage with a massive troop of professionals.

The 28-year-old singer also gave a nod to Greta Gerwig-helmed Barbie, delivering a quick line from her Barbie song Dance the Night, which had earned her two nominations at the event.

Jay-Z slams Grammy Awards for Beyonce snub

Rapper Jay-Z, who had 24 Grammys in his trophy cabinet, called out the Grammy committee for never honouring Beyonce with Album of the Year in the course of a tart acceptance speech.

The popular rapper, who is also Beyonce’s husband, ripped into the committee, accusing it of ignoring the pop legend despite her staggering achievement of winning a record 32 Grammys over the years.

Jay-Z himself received the second-ever Dr Dre Global Impact Award on the night for his indelible contribution to the music industry with a career spanning over 30 years.

Rapper Killer Mike exits in handcuffs after winning three awards

Rapper Killer Mike, real name Michael Render, was arrested and booked for misdemeanour just after he won three awards, including his first in more than two decades. He was escorted out of the venue in handcuffs after an alleged physical altercation backstage.

The Los Angeles police department confirmed the news on their social media page. “On Sunday February 4th just after 4pm a male adult was detained & handcuffed for a physical altercation that occurred at the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court,” reads an X (formerly Twitter) post by the Los Angeles police department.

In an update to the post, the authorities confirmed that the “suspect has been identified as 48-year-old Michael Render.”

Celine Dion returns to public eye to present Grammy to Taylor Swift

Celine Dion returned to the public eye at the Grammy Awards amid her battle with an incurable autoimmune disorder. The Oscar-winning singer presented the Album of the Year award to Taylor Swift for the latter’s 10th studio album Midnights (2022).

In December last year, Dion’s sister had revealed to a Canadian Magazine that the 55-year-old “lost all control over her muscles” following a yearlong battle with an incurable autoimmune neurological disorder.

The My Heart Will Go On singer looked stunning in a mustard yellow coat, paired with silver accessories.
