Marvel Studios is all set to collaborate with Japanese animation studio Polygon Pictures, known for its work on blockbusters like Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Transformers Prime, for an all-new animated Spider-Man series for Disney+ in 2024.
On July 14, Polygon Pictures announced the collaboration with the Disney-owned studio, stating that it would bring Spider-Man: Freshman Year to life with cutting-edge CG technology. “Polygon Pictures is proud to announce its involvement in Marvel Studios’ upcoming animated series, Spider-Man: Freshman Year!” it wrote.
MCU - The Direct also took to the micro-blogging platform on July 15 to announce the news. “OFFICIAL: Disney+’s SPIDER-MAN: FRESHMAN YEAR will be produced by the Japanese digital animation studio, Polygon Pictures!” it wrote.
Spider-Man: Freshman Year will reportedly transport fans back to Peter Parker’s early days, offering a never-before-seen glimpse into his transformation into the iconic superhero. The series aims to give a fresh and invigorating perspective on the web-slinger, drawing influence from the character’s early comic-book beginnings. However, it is still not clear where this particular story will fit into the grand schemes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Spider-Man: Freshman Year has no release date yet, but it is believed to appear on Disney+ in 2024.
