The film is set around the enigmatic Anurekha Sengupta, a distinguished cartoonist known affectionately as Madam Sengupta. Anurekha finds herself entwined in a labyrinth of deceit and revelation and a series of peculiar events draw her into an investigation that will unearth secrets long buried.

“I was looking for something new, something that’ll excite me. I play a cartoonist and I love that aspect of my character. This is a first for me. My behavioural pattern will change with the character. I play a mother and I also get into an investigation, so my character has many shades. The script is helping me to understand the layers. Madam Sengupta draws cartoons and that leads to something. It is an interesting point in the film. The title of the film is also very intriguing,” said Rituparna.

Talking about reuniting on screen with Rahul Bose after 18 years, Rituparna said: “Anuranan was a very important film, and it made a deep impact. Our performances were appreciated. For this film, Rahul was approached and he really loved the script of Madam Sengupta. Our characters have an interesting dynamic between them.”

Madam Sengupta (produced by Nandy Movies) is not just a story of crime and investigation; it is a poignant exploration of the human spirit’s resilience in the face of despair and the indomitable quest for justice,” said Sayantan.
