Dropped by Netflix on Monday, the one-minute-42-second-long teaser shows how the world turns upside down for holidaying couple Amanda (Roberts) and Clay (Hawke) when two strangers, played by Mahershala Ali and Myha’la, knock at their vacation home at night and seek refuge from the rising threat of cyberattacks in the city. They stick together and try to save themselves from the growing terror of the attacks.

The growing stress level of the characters is a constant theme through the next scenes with Clay swerving his car away from a red vapour-like creature rising towards the sky and Amanda letting out a muffled scream. “There’s no going back to normal,” says Mahershala Ali’s character at the end of the teaser, alerting everyone that things will only go downhill from there.

The teaser also introduces Kevin Bacon’s character who says that everyone on earth has been deserted and that there is no way out.

Based on a suspense novel by Rumaan Alam, Leave The World Behind is directed by Sam Esmail, best known for creating the award-winning psychological techno-thriller series Mr Robot (2015-2019). It will release in select US theatres in November and arrive on Netflix US on December 8.
