Inspired by Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Salman Khan’s Tiger, the Parekh family embarks on a secret mission in a bid to earn a hefty amount in the teaser of the family-entertainer Khichdi 2.
The one-minute-20-second-long video, dropped on Saturday, begins with a voiceover saying that every mission seems impossible while Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible theme plays in the background. Soon we get to know that the Khichdi 2 cast has been asked to go on a mission in return for Rs 5 crore. The main characters play agents assigned to the mission as scenes alluding to Salman’s Ek Tha Tiger and Shah Rukh’s Pathaan begin to play out in the video.
Supriya Pathak’s Hansa says she is too tired to work on a mission, while Anang Desai's Babuji criticises her for being a spendthrift instead of working hard to earn. The entire cast is then seen aboard a plane with Pratik Gandhi as the pilot. He is hit by the Gujarati family after bearing with their constant bickering. In the next scene, all of them are seen descending through the air with parachutes.
The teaser concludes with Nimisha Vakharia’s Jayshree, clinging on to her parachute mid-air, telling someone on the phone that they are heading towards Paanthukistan for a secret mission.
A sequel to the 2010 comedy film Khichdi: The Movie, Khichdi 2 features Supriya Pathak, Rajeev Mehta, Anang Desai, Pratik Gandhi and Kirti Kulhari. Presented by Hatsoff Productions and directed by Aatish Kapadia, the film is slated to release in theatres on November 17.
