Protagonist Rimuru becoming the Demon Lord in the anime series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime isn’t the only development you need to prepare for in April. An interesting lineup of new and old anime shows ranging from action to romance and fantasy to slice-of-life tales are set to hit OTT platforms like Netflix and Crunchyroll this month. Here’s a look.

A Condition Called Love

When a first-year high school girl Hotaru Hinase sees Hananoi, an attractive boy from another class, standing in the middle of a park all alone after getting dumped, she decides to hand him an umbrella. This little act of kindness leads Hananoi to ask Hotaru out on a date. While Hotaru becomes nervous, Hananoi starts harbouring feelings for the former and does everything he can for her. Confusion ensues as Hotaru is someone who is inexperienced in the matters of love and Hananoi is an overly expressive person when it comes to relationships.

In the third season of the Isekai anime, Rimuru officially becomes the Demon Lord, gaining control over the Great Forest of Jura. When a fabricated declaration of war targets him, Rimuru faces the challenge of preserving his vision of harmony between humans and monsters.

Kaiju No. 8

As a child, Kafka Hibino had made a promise to his friend Mina Ashiro to protect humanity from Kaiju (giant monsters). When he grows up, he aspires to enlist in the defence force to keep his promise. But after life takes the two friends on different paths, Kafka becomes disillusioned. However, an encounter with Reno Ichikawa reignites his childhood promise and his battle-spirit. He is unaware that his newfound motivation calls for an unexpected Kaiju war. Fans of Godzilla definitely have a treat coming up in April with Kaiju No. 8.

The third season of the popular Isekai anime will follow the developments in the lives of Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin and Darkness that eventually lead the group towards a separation.

The Grimm Variations

A retelling of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales, the series revolves around brothers Jacob and Wilhelm who collected fairy tales from all over the world and compiled them into a book. One day, during a narration of their fairy tales to their sister Charlotte, the little girl asks them with a melancholic expression on her face, “Do you suppose they really lived happily ever after?”. The Grimm Variations, animated by WIT Studio, presents original fairy tales from the perspective of Charlotte, whose take on the stories is different from her brothers.

Laid Back Camp Season 3

Laid Back Camp follows Rin Shima, a solo camper whose love for camping has given her the strength to pitch her tent and collect firewood all by herself. Things take a turn for her when another girl named Nadeshiko Kagamihara takes refuge at her camp. The third season will carry on with the cosy winter camping escapades of Rin, Nadeshiko and other members of the Outdoor Activities Club.
