Jailer director Nelson Dilipkumar lauds Rajinikanth’s ‘commitment’ and ‘simplicity’

The Rajinikanth-starrer has raked in more than Rs 340 crore in India and crossed the Rs 600-crore mark globally

Jailer helmer Nelson Dilipkumar has thanked actor Rajinikanth, heaping praise on him for his “energy, dedication, passion and humbleness” following the global box office success of the recently released action thriller.

The Rajinikanth-starrer, which was released on August 10, has raked in more than Rs 340 crore in India and crossed the Rs 600-crore mark globally, according to box office figures.

The 39-year-old filmmaker took to Instagram and expressed his gratitude towards everyone involved in the making of the film as well as the media and fans who made Jailer a “massive success”.

“Superstar Rajinikanth sir thank you so much for the opportunity. Your energy, commitment, dedication, passion, simplicity and humbleness have always been a learning experience for me and the whole crew,” Dilipkumar wrote.

He mentioned that it is the veteran actor’s “phenomena” that has resulted in the film’s “tremendous success”. He further went on to say that working with Rajinikanth in Jailer has been one of the “most treasured experiences” of his life.

Besides Rajinikanth, the director thanked Jailer cast members Ramya Krishnan, Sunil Varma, Nagendra Babu, Vinayakan Chetta, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, Ganesh Janardhanan and Redin Kingsley. He also thanked actors Tamannaah Bhatia, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar and Jackie Shroff for featuring in the film and elevating it to “greater heights”.

Dilipkumar signed off by acknowledging the contributions of his fans through “positive word of mouth”. “The overwhelming response and the electrifying atmosphere that you created inside the theatres will be etched in my memory forever,” he wrote.

Nelson is well-known for his action-thrillers which make use of dark humour. His 2021 film Doctor, starring Sivakarthikeya and Priyanka Mohan, is one of his most famous films.
