Huma Qureshi, Farah Khan, A.R. Rahman, Mahesh Babu attend Sania Mirza’s farewell party

Sania retired on March 5 after an over two-decade-long career in professional tennis

A.R. Rahman, Farah Khan, Huma Qureshi, Diana Penty and Dulquer Salmaan were among the celebrities who attended tennis legend Sania Mirza’s farewell party following her retirement from professional tennis on March 5 in Hyderabad.

The 36-year-old four-time Olympian was decked up in a shimmery black gown with a wrap around detail at the party. Yuvraj Singh, Farah Khan, Saina Nehwal and Irfan Pathan matched steps to Oo Antava at the star-studded event.

Huma Qureshi, who is a close friend of Sania, twinned with the tennis star in black. Sharing a selfie from the event Huma wrote, “To my friend who is an inspiration to a whole generation of young girls & boys. This is the beginning of another glorious chapter my @mirzasaniar. You bring your A game to every room that you walk in … I love you and admire you deeply . I first saw you live in Wimbledon in 2015 (a dream come true) and since then our friendship has only grown.”

Sarkaru Vaari Paata actor Mahesh Babu attended the party with his wife Namrata Shirokdar. The couple also wore black for the event and celebrated Sania’s retirement.

Neha Dhupia showed up in a white co-ord set for the party with her husband Angad Bedi. The 42-year-old actress shared several pictures from the party and wrote, “From being in awe of you , to being by your side … from admiring you as a champion to sharing so much with you as a mama … I couldn't be more proud of you my friend.”

The highlight of the party was A.R. Rahman’s selfie with Sania. Rahman also posed for a selfie with Mahesh Babu at the party.

The six-time Grand Slam winner and two-time Olympic winner ended the celebrations with a nap in her bed with her best friend, Farah Khan. “So this is what champions do after retirement.. chill in bed with their best friend,” Farah wrote, sharing their picture after the retirement party.
