The Harry Potter TV series is slated to debut on the Max streaming service in 2026, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed during the company’s Q4 earnings call on Friday, US entertainment website Variety has reported.
“We've not been shy about our excitement around Harry Potter,” remarked Zaslav during the earnings call. He highlighted the prolonged absence of new Harry Potter content since the release of the final film over a decade ago, underscoring the eagerness among fans for fresh narratives set in the wizarding world.
Zaslav disclosed that pivotal discussions regarding the series had taken place in London, where he, along with key executives from HBO and Max, had engaged in productive dialogue with J.K. Rowling and her team.
“We spent some real time with J.K. and her team,” Zaslav revealed, adding, “Both sides are just thrilled to be reigniting this franchise. Our conversations were great, and we couldn't be more excited about what’s ahead.”
The upcoming series is expected to encompass the entire magical journey chronicled in J.K. Rowling's iconic seven-book saga. Each season of the television adaptation will correspond to one of the spellbinding novels that captured the hearts and imagination of millions worldwide. Despite the anticipation surrounding the Harry Potter TV series, details regarding casting remain undisclosed.
