Taylor Swift became the first artiste to win the Album of the Year trophy at the Grammy Awards four times in a row, while Miley Cyrus bagged her first-ever Grammy for Best Pop-solo Performance and Record at the 66th edition of the award ceremony on Monday.

Taylor received the Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album awards for her 2022 album Midnights. While delivering her acceptance speech, the Lover singer also announced the release of her new studio album The Tortured Poets Department. Taylor’s Midnights was nominated in the Album of the Year category alongside singers Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know That There's A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS, SZA’s SOS and Miley’s Endless Summer Vacation.

Miley, on the other hand, won two Grammys for her song Flowers, which topped Billboard’s Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks and emerged as the most-streamed song in a single week on Spotify with over 100 million plays.

“She can buy herself flowers and win her own #GRAMMYs,” the US-based Recording Academy wrote on X, announcing the singer as the winner. Other contenders in this category included Billie Eilish, Victoria Monét, Jon Batiste and Taylor.

Billie Eilish, who emerged as a pop sensation in 2015 with her debut single Ocean Eyes, won trophies for the Song of the Year and Song Written for Visual Media for her Barbie song What Was I Made For. The song, which was nominated at the Golden Globes earlier this year, also received nods for record of the year, best music video and pop-solo performance awards.

Taylor’s Anti-Hero, Dua Lipa’s Barbie song Dance The Night, Lana’s A&W, Olivia’s Vampire and Batiste’s Butterfly were the other nominations in the Song of the Year category.

While On My Mama singer Victoria Monét won the Best New Artist award, SZA was awarded with the Best Pop Duo/Group performance trophy for her song Ghost In The Machine featuring Phoebe Bridgers.

Veteran singer Joni Mitchell, who also performed live at the opening ceremony of the awards show, won the Best Folk Album award for her 2022 live album Joni Mitchell At Newport. This marks the Cactus Tree singer’s 10th Grammy win.

Hosted by comedian-actor Trevor Noah, the ceremony can be watched on Grammy.com and the Recording Academy's YouTube channel in India.
