The trailer of the film Ektu Shore Boshun, directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee and produced by Big Cat Films, Europa Media Entertainment, G.P. Entertainment LLP and Dark Energy, was released recently. The launch was graced by the presence of the talented cast and crew members.

Ektu Shore Boshun focuses on the life of Guddu, played by Ritwick Chakraborty, a Sanskrit graduate trapped in the quaint Bengal town of Begunbagicha, where time seems to stand still. Jobless and aimless, Guddu’s only solace is his childhood love, Piu, portrayed by Ishaa Saha, in a town teeming with eccentric characters.

The plot thickens when, with the help of his friend Aalpin, a penny stock player with his own agenda, Guddu decides to steal the only family heirloom and escape to Calcutta. His destination: the house of his far-removed cousin Fotke Da, a success story with a cushy MNC job. Guddu’s goal is simple —to beg Fotke Da for a job opportunity. Despite the comical shenanigans, Guddu’s pursuit of a job hits roadblocks. It is only when Fotke Da, under constant persuasion from his wife Urmi, agrees to take Guddu to his MNC that the story hurtles towards a conclusion.

“What struck me the most is how relevant the story of Bonophool is, even after so long, since he had written the story. It deals with the contemporary crisis of unemployment and the difficulty that the youth of today is encountering. The film is a social comedy with a deep message about the societal conditions going around us,” said Kamaleshwar Mukherjee.

Ektu Shore Boshun stars Paran Bandyopadhyay, Rajatava Dutta, Paoli Dam, Payel Sarkar, Kharaj Mukherjee, Manashi Sinha, Biswanath Basu, Loknath Dey, Debranjan Nag among others. The music is composed by Debojyoti Mishra while the songs are sung by Arijit Singh, Anwesha Dutta Gupta, Sunidhi Chauhan, Rupankar, Dipannita Acharya and Cizzy.

Ektu Shore Boshun releases in theatres on November 24.
