The April 26 film Eta Amader Golpo — starring Saswata Chatterjee, Aparajita Adhya, Kharaj Mukherjee, Koneenica Banerjee, Sohag Sen, Amit Ghosh, Arya Dasgupta and more — is a story of hope, of those who still believe in relationships and bonds that stay invested in faith, transcend time and considerations of caste and creed. It is a story of two families hailing from completely different backgrounds. The warmth gets infused not just between two individuals but permeates through two families. Directed by Manasi Sinha, the film is produced by Shubhash Bera and Suvankar Mitra of Dhagaa Production. The team recently got together to launch the trailer of the film at Hard Rock Cafe.

“This film has been a huge learning experience for me. I’ve had decades of experience as an accomplished actress in front of the camera. The nuances of editing, colour grading, dubbing techniques, marketing promotions planning, all these were relatively new to me. I learnt several new things. To my mind, all of life is a learning process in continuum. I have rediscovered colleagues as dear friends who have supported me in this journey unconditionally. This is my directorial debut and I am keenly looking forward to audience feedback,” said Manasi.

“Working with old friends and colleagues makes it an exciting experience on set. And this comfort level ensured that every day of shooting was memorable. The boisterous laughter, the fun addas, the eating together et al, bonded us closely. Much like the essence of the film. This is not the typical romantic genre of a film with young lovers. This story is about two mature senior citizens who are quite lonely in their individual lives, who meet up circumstantially in a park and the aged Punjabi gentleman tries to blossom a sweet romantic equation. It irks the Bengali lady and makes her rather embarrassed. How this unconventional love blooms, with the help of their family members, is the crux of the film’s narrative. These kinds of unconventional yet fun love sagas are rarely made nowadays. The audience, to my mind, will love this film for its differently curated romance and the myriad funny sequences. While the cultures, Bengali and Punjabi, are starkly contrarian and the family members too, the humane essence eventually cements a common bond,” said Saswata.

The music, already gaining popularity on the charts with Zee Music Bangla, is helmed by Pranjal Das and rendered ever so mellifluously by a blend of veteran performers and new talents on the music horizon.

“Stitching together Eta Amader Golpo has been no less than an exhilarating experience. Saswata Chatterjee’s professionalism, punctuality and dedication to the movie have contributed immensely. His skills and joyous demeanour used to invigorate the set. Aparajita Adhya’s been fantastic to work with. Her nuanced skills brought a different dimension to her character. Learning from seasoned professionals like her has been an enriching experience for me. Kharaj Mukherjee’s talent, energy, ready wit and verve brought a lot of positivity to the set. Manasi Sinha’s dual expertise as a director and an accomplished actor provided precious insights into the crafting of the film. Our working relationship evolved into a supportive dynamic, akin to that of a mentor and mentee. Sohag Sen is truly inspiring as a straightforward, unwaveringly committed veteran. She’s a combination of talent, mentorship, and meticulous dedication to getting every aspect of the film right,” said Suvankar Mitra, producer.
