Archie Comics is getting a Bollywood treatment as the beloved characters from Riverdale High will soon be seen in a live-action, theatrical film. The quartet of Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica will be reimagined with an all-Indian cast. Archie Comics, in partnership with Graphic India, will put a desi twist to the characters created by Bob Montana and John L. Goldwater, a statement said. Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater said: “Archie’s lasting and growing presence in India made this move the logical next step as our stellar library of characters continues to expand into other media.”

Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman has signed up for the Bollywood remake of The Fault in Our Stars starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. The Hindi adaptation of the 2014 film will be directed by Mukesh Chhabra and produced by Fox Star Studios. The 51-year-old composer, who has scored music for Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours among others, said he was excited. “I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Fox Star Studios and Mukesh Chhabra on many projects in the past and they have all been great experiences. When I heard the narration of their Indian adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars and especially how music is so beautifully woven into the narrative, I got quite excited,” Rahman said. The film will star Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead.

Amitabh Bachchan, who is shooting for Thugs of Hindostan at the historic Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, said it was heartening to see women working on the sets of a film, a place where they were “nonexistent” at one point. The 75-year-old superstar took to his personal blog where he praised the women for the efficiency and discipline they brought on location of the Vijay Krishna Acharya-directed project. “... The entire controls barring a few, are managed by the ladies... Efficient, demanding, disciplined, screaming their heads off to inefficiency, but getting it done... So so remarkable...”

David Oyelowo was surprised to find out that his Gringo co-star Charlize Theron swears like a sailor. The 41-year-old actor — who played Martin Luther King, Jr in the 2014 release Selma — also said the Oscar-winning actress is one of the bravest people he knows. “She’s pretty foul-mouthed. That’s something from day one I was like, ‘Wow!’ Especially because she’s so debonair and elegant, and then she has the mouth of the sailor. “But I love her for the fact that she’s always 100 per cent herself. She’s one of the bravest people I know,” Oyelowo told E! News.

Ferdinand voice star Gina Rodriguez will star in the romantic comedy Someone Great from the streaming giant Netflix. The 33-year-old will also produce the film, which will be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, reported Variety. Making her directorial debut with Someone Great, Robinson has also penned the script of the film — about a woman who, after a heart-wrenching break-up, decides to seek adventure in New York City with her two best friends before she moves across the country for her dream job. Filming is expected to start April this year.
