Fast X, Nonte Fonte, TeniDa and Company, 8 A.M. Metro: New films to watch in theatres this weekend

While the fans of the Fast & Furious franchise are eager to watch Dom Toretto and his family face their nemesis in Fast X, three other Hindi and Bengali films will also be hitting the cinemas this Friday. Take a look.

Fast X (English)

After outsmarting several odds across innumerable missions over the years, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family must confront the most lethal opponent ever — Dante (Jason Momoa). In the 2011 blockbuster Fast Five, Dom and his team had taken down the Brazilian drug lord Hernan Reyes. What they didn’t know was that Hernan’s son Dante was witness to the brutal execution of his father. He spent the last 12 years plotting revenge and is not going to spare Dom and his family.

Nonte Fonte (Bengali)

Screen adaptation of Narayan Debnath’s Bengali comic strip creation, Nonte Fonte chronicles the tale of two kidsNonte (Sohom Basu Roychowdhuri) and Fonte (Sohom Roy) — who are packed off to a boarding school by their parents because of their constant pranks. They start off as enemies but become the thickest of friends soon enough. They often get into loggerheads with their senior Keltu (Krishna Banerjee) and irritate Hati Sir (Monijyoti Mukerjee) with their antics.

TeniDa and Company (Bengali)

Cast: Kanchan Mullick, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Soumendra Bhattacharya and Sourav Saha

Based on the novel Jhau Bungalowr Rahasya by Narayan Gangopadhyay, Sayantan Ghosal’s adaptation features Kanchan Mullick in the role of the iconic literary character TeniDa. Known to be an extravagant bragger, TeniDa also has a loyal group of friends — Kyabla (Gaurav Chakrabarty), Habul (Sourav Saha) and Pyala (Soumendra Bhattacharya). During a vacation in Darjeeling, TeniDa and his gang land in trouble when they visit a haunted mansion. How they extricate themselves from the situation forms the rest of the story.

8 A.M. Metro (Hindi)

Cast: Saiyami Kher and Gulshan Devaiah

Iravati (Saiyami Kher) is a homemaker dealing with a childhood trauma. A closeted poet, Iravati often gets panic attacks which prevents her from travelling by train. Because of a twist of fate, she lands in Hyderabad, all alone, and must navigate the unknown city all on her own. During her journey on the metro, she encounters a banker, Pritam (Gulshan Devaiah), who helps her deal with her trauma and complete her journey. A friendship soon blossoms between the duo as they end up taking the same train every day.
