Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreides seeks vengeance against the Harkonnens for the murder of his father and rises up to messianic status on the desert planet Arrakis in Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated sci-fi epic Dune: Part Two trailer, released on Wednesday late night.

Unveiled by Warner Bros. Pictures, the two-minute-24-second-long trailer begins with Paul Atreides and Zendaya’s Chani talking about the desert of Arrakis. We are then introduced to Princess Irulan, the Emperor’s daughter (Florence Pugh), who talks about the end of the house Atreides on Arrakis before speculating about the survival of Paul Atreides.

The video then shows Paul seeking revenge from the Harkonnens for the murder of his father, followed by a montage of action sequences featuring all the main characters of the world. Paul’s tense sandworm ride is followed by him becoming a leader of the freeman of Arrakis as he leads them to a rebellion against the Harkonnens. Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, who is Baron Harkonnen’s younger nephew and the planned successor of Arrakis, also features in the trailer.

“Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. This is the second of the two-part adaptation based on Frank Hernert’s 1965 science-fiction fantasy novel Dune and the sequel to 2021’s Dune, which received six Oscars. It is directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for films like Prisoners, Incendies, Enemy and Blade Runner 2049.
