The medical thriller Doctor Bakshi, starring Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Subhashree Ganguly, and Bonny Sengupta, is performing well on the streaming platform Addatimes. The film revolves around a charming doctor who takes up his own path of justice, a writer who is caught in a web of mystery and a criminal recently out of jail. “Doctor Bakshi had its theatrical release in 2023. It had a limited run at the box office due to less number of theaters from the second week as a big Hindi movie released at that time. Still, we completed 25 days-plus at the theaters and the sci-fi thriller film received praise and acclaim from the viewers. I have been happy to try out experimental concepts in Bengali, knowing very well that these kinds of attempts attract a lesser number of audience who are more conditioned to family dramas or detective stories. I am honoured that Surinder Films has streamed our film on Addatimes. The film is performing very well in streaming and we are receiving messages and reviews regularly. The general verdict is that the film has a gripping narrative with a compelling exploration of morality with a blend of visionary technology. This kind of content pushes the boundary of storytelling and therefore I am happy with the reaction of the audience. I will attempt more unique works like this and will hope for a larger audience both in the theatres and on OTT,” said director Saptaswa Basu.
