These six actresses have made a successful switch from saas-bahu dramas on television to a thriving career on YouTube, winning fans from all over the world.

Dipika Kakkar

Sasural Simar Ka was one of those television dramas that could bring a household to a standstill, and fans of the show rooted for Dipika Kakkar who played Simar. The 2011 Colors TV drama went on for seven years and became the second longest-running Indian TV show after Balika Vadhu. Dipika also won Bigg Boss Season 12, all of which cemented her position as a household name. Dipika’s YouTube channel, called ‘Dipika Ki Duniya’, has more than 3M subscribers and is dedicated to glimpses of her daily life. From shopping at Dubai Mall with hubby Shoaib Ibrahim to making a quick Jowar-Chicken Papdi Chaat dish in her kitchen, her vlogs are fun and packed with do-it-yourself tips.

Erica Fernandes

Erica Fernandes stole our hearts with her television debut on the SET show Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi and then played the lead in Star Plus’ Kasautii Zindagii Kay. She started a YouTube channel soon after her TV debut, which now has a whopping 1.49M followers. Erica has been publishing videos on her makeup and skincare routine, easy food recipes she makes at home, dancing to popular tracks and her travels. She’s also known for her love of tea and she often shares vlogs on tea with her fans.

Hina Khan

Hina Khan may have lost the Bigg Boss 14 title to Shilpa Shinde but she did win a lot of hearts. Her YouTube channel is just as entertaining as the actress shares daily vlogs, skincare secrets, song covers and behind-the-scenes moments from her shoots. One of the popular videos on Hina’s YouTube channel is an Eid special where she made mutton biryani. The actress, who shot to limelight as Akshara in the StarPlus show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has 746K subscribers on YouTube.

Tejasswi Prakash

Known for playing Ragini Maheshwari in Swaragini - Jodein Rishton Ke Sur, Tejasswi Prakash garnered a huge fan base after winning Bigg Boss Season 15. Her YouTube channel, which has 995K subscribers, is packed with vlogs on her daily life, from behind-the-scenes moments to her makeup and skincare regimen. Her Bigg Boss co-participant-turned-boyfriend Karan Kundrra often features on her YouTube channel and her cute vlogs with him are also a hit.

Devoleena Bhattacharjee

Devoleena Bhattacharjee, who became famous as Gopi bahu in Star Plus’ Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, has had a successful run in reality TV too, having starred in Bigg Boss Season 13, 14 and 15. Her YouTube channel, ‘Devoleena Bhattacherjee the OMG Girl’, started just a year ago, has already amassed 815K subscribers who love Devoleena’s tidbits on life. Known for her spunky attitude and volatile temper, the actress shares song covers, skincare secrets and yummy recipes.

Rubina Dilaik

After playing Radhika in Zee TV’s Choti Bahu and Parul in Punar Vivah: Ek Nayi Umeed, Rubina Dilaik showed her carefree, casual side on Bigg Boss Season 14, which she won. The recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Foundation Award in 2015 (for her contribution to the small screen industry) has a thriving YouTube channel with over 768K subscribers. The behind-the-scenes videos of Rubina shooting for Khatron Ke Khiladi have fetched over a million views. The actress regularly shares her experience of taking part in the reality TV show.
