Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024: Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara win top awards for Jawan

Sandeep Reddy Vanga bagged the Best Director Award for Animal, while Bobby Deol took home the Best Actor in a Negative Role for his role in the film

Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara clinched the Best Actor and Best Actress awards, respectively, for their roles in Atlee’s Jawan at this year’s Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards ceremony held in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Nayanthara, however, shared her award with Rani Mukherji, who bagged the award for Ashima Chibber-helmed Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.

Thanking the jury in his acceptance speech for selecting him as a winner, Shah Rukh said, “It’s been a long time I haven’t been chosen for the Best Actor award. It led me to believe that I won’t receive it ever again. So it makes me really happy to be chosen once again for this award.”

Apart from Jawan, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal also collected laurels on the night with Bobby Deol receiving the Best Actor in a Negative Role Award and the filmmaker receiving the Best Director Award.

Vicky Kaushal took home the Best Actor (Critics) Award for his role as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur. “Thank you so much for honouring me with the Dadasaheb Phalke Best Actor (Critics) Award for Sam Bahadur. To the Indian Army,” the 35-year-old actor wrote on his Instagram story alongside a clip of him accepting the award.

Anirudh Ravichander won the Best Music Director Award for Jawan. While Varun Jain went on to win the Best Playback Singer (Male) Award for the Zara Hatke Zara Bachke song Tere Vaste, Shilpa Rao received the Best Playback Singer (Female) Award for the Pathaan song Besharam Rang.

In the Television Awards section, Neil Bhatt was considered as the Best Actor for the popular StarPlus show Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, while the Best Actress Award was bestowed upon Rupali Ganguly for StarPlus show Anupamaa.

Karishma Tanna, known for her roles in Naagin 3 and Qayamat Ki Raat, bagged the Best Actress in a Web Series Award for Hansal Mehta’s Netflix thriller series Scoop. On the other hand, Aditya Roy Kapur was honoured with the Critics Best Actor in a Web Series award for The Night Manager.

The awards ceremony sparkled with glam and glitz as Bollywood celebrities like Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vikrant Massey, Sanya Malhotra and Adah Sharma were also present at the event.
