Lime ’n’ lemony

After keeping it relatively simple at the Met Gala, Deepika Padukone has been pulling out her dramatic best at the Cannes Film Festival 2019. After the black-and-white Peter Dundas number in her first red-carpet appearance on Thursday, Deepika threw a curveball on Friday, sashaying down the red carpet at the premiere of Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory, in a lime green Giambattista Valli tulle gown that was accented with a pink bow and silk belt. She paired the unconventional number with a floral headband by Emily-London and nude stilettos. The look may have met with mixed reviews, but kudos to Deepika for stepping so far out of her comfort zone. “Nuts!” was how husband Ranveer Singh chose to give his approval on Instagram.

After the sari look on Day One, Kangana Ranaut opted for a soft and flowy Micheal Cinco gown that featured an embellished trail with pink and lavender hues. The actress completed the look with lavender earrings from Chopard, soft curls and minimal make-up.

Red hot

Also bringing a pop of colour to the red carpet was Bella Hadid. The supermodel stunned in a red Roberto Cavalli gown. The asymmetrical gown with a jewelled neckline and strategic cutouts was accessorised with ruby earrings and a bold red lip. We love!

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria, an annual fixture at Cannes, was a vision in a blush pink satin custom Alberta Ferretti gown with a sequin embroidered bustier and train. She had us at the colour. And yes, this is how you do drama right, without going OTT!

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez attended the premiere of her zombie film The Dead Don’t Die in ivory separates from Louis Vuitton teamed with an 88-carat Bulgari collar neckpiece. Red lips, winged liner and a thigh-high slit added the right touch of oomph.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra attended the Chopard party with husband Nick Jonas in a lilac Fendi Couture dress with a scalloped sheer skirt. While we loved the colour, the gown, with its mesh details and latex accents, was a #fail, as were the mismatched lips and eye make-up.

Elle Fanning

Ruched floral waistline, plunging neckline and cape sleeves — Elle Fanning sashayed down the red carpet in a peach Gucci gown.

Amber Heard

Amber Heard also went the pastel way in a sequinned, thigh-high slit gown with a broad belt that accentuated her narrow waist. We loved her neatly gelled hair and shimmery eyes and pale lips.

Alessandra Ambrosio

Model Alessandra Ambrosio walked the red carpet in a flowy pale pink semi-sheer one-shoulder number looking like a dream.
