Kartik Aaryan-starrer Shehzada failed to weave its magic at the box office on its opening day, earning only Rs 7 crore nett, as per Box Office India reports. The collection is way below the Rs 14 crore nett earnings that Kartik’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had fetched on its opening day.

Directed by Rohit Dhawan, Shehzada is the official Hindi remake of the 2020 Telugu hit Ala Vaikunthapurramloo, starring Allu Arjun. Shehzada stars Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, Ronit Roy, Sachin Khedekar and Manisha Koirala. It is the second collaboration between Kriti and Kartik after Luka Chuppi, but the film is largely a showcase for Kartik with Kriti playing just a supportive act with very little screen time.

The week’s other big release, Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, is doing better at the box office. The first movie in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe collected Rs 9 crore nett in India on February 17, the day of its release.

Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-man and The Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne aka the Wasp. Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas reprise their roles as Janet van Dyne and Hank Pym. Jonathan Majors is the new addition to the franchise as the new supervillain, Kang the Conqueror.

Meanwhile, Yash Raj Films’s Pathaan began its fourth week at the cinemas, riding largely on Shah Rukh Khan’s shoulders, and raked in Rs 2.5 crore nett in India on Friday. The Siddharth Anand-directed spy action thriller has managed to collect Rs 980 crore gross worldwide.
