Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh bring the essence of first love to life in the music video for the latest Amar Singh Chamkila track Tu Kya Jaane, a romantic number dropped by record label Saregama Music on Wednesday.

The subsequent scenes capture the blooming romance between the two. Their shoulders brush against each other as they ride in an overcrowded taxi and Amarjot gazes at Chamkila while the latter rehearses his songs. As Amarjot gradually falls in love with Chamkila, she struggles to contain her excitement and eagerness in his presence.

While A. R. Rahman is the music director, Irshad Kamil serves as the lyricist of Tu Kya Jaane. The song is sung by Yashikha Sikka.

Earlier today, director Imtiaz Ali teased the release of the music video on social media. "There’s something about pehle zamaane ka pyaar, isn’t it? and vintage melodies! new song ‘Tu Kya Jaane…’ coming today. best wishes,” he wrote, sharing a poster of the song and some behind-the-scenes pictures from the set of the upcoming biopic.

The trailer of the film, released by the makers on March 28, revealed that the storyline would revolve around Chamkila's rise to fame and his eventual demise at a young age.

Often referred to as the ‘Elvis Presley of Punjab,’ young Amar Singh Chamkila initially worked at a sock-manufacturing company. However, he went on to become one of the most renowned folk singers in Punjab and married his singing partner Amarjot.

Nevertheless, the alleged vulgar lyrics of his songs led to violent protests, which ultimately resulted in his untimely death.

The biographical drama is slated to premiere on Netflix on April 12.
