Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said what the country had seen in the last 10 years under him was only a trailer and dwelt on his pet themes — the Ram temple, Article 370 and the instant triple talaq.

Addressing an election rally in Meerut, Modi said: “You have seen only the trailer in the last 10 years of my rule, but we have to move forward in the coming years. I am already prepared to come to you with a report in 2029.”

“People used to say that building the Ram temple (in Ayodhya) would be impossible. But you have seen that not only was the temple built, but Ram Lalla also played Holi in Awadh this year the way Holi is played in Mathura,” he said.

“People thought that a law against the instant triple talaq wouldn’t be possible but we enacted it and saved the lives of thousands of Muslim women,” Modi added.

“People also thought that Article 370 would never be scrapped but we did it and Jammu and Kashmir is growing today.”

The Prime Minister also pointed to Katchatheevu, the 163-acre uninhabited island administered by Sri Lanka.

“A new game of the Congress has come to light. There is an island called Katchatheevu near Tamil Nadu. The Congress government had in the past declared our own land as not ours. As a result, our fishermen are arrested there now. The DMK, a partner of the Congress, is silent on this issue. Can you trust the Congress, which agreed to remove a part of our own land?” he asked the gathering. He didn’t name Sri Lanka.

Modi had written on X a few hours before arriving in Meerut: “Eye-opening and startling! New facts reveal how Congress gave away Katchatheevu.”

Modi added: “This has angered every Indian and reaffirmed in people’s minds that we can’t ever trust the Congress! Weakening India’s unity, integrity and interests has been the Congress’s way of working for 75 years and counting.”

Although the Prime Minister remained silent on the now-scrapped electoral bonds, he claimed that he was fighting corruption.

“The situation is such that corrupt leaders are in jail and even the Supreme Court has refused to grant them bail,” he said without mentioning names. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is incustody in a corruption case relating to a now-scrappedliquor policy.

Modi said the Lok Sabha polls this time were not about electing MPs but about making India the third-biggest economy in the world. He claimed he would soon remove poverty from the country.
