Bad outcome

A bully is actually a coward. Expelling a bully will make the fellow adamant and aggressive. The bullies of the world don’t need punishment, they need counselling. Expelling a bully will lead to a fellow without a degree, who will be jobless in future and this can lead him or her to crime.

Best to ignore

Bullies don’t care whether they’re expelled or suspended as their main motive is power play and control. They want to have control over the victim’s emotions so ignoring them and walking away would demonstrate that one is least interested in the bully. If everyone ignores bullies this way, they won’t have any target and hence, won’t have any power or control. Ignoring a bully is better than expulsion.

Chance to reform

Bullying is a complex issue that requires a multifaceted response. Educational institutes should apply restorative justice practices, which involves bringing the bully and victim together to discuss the issue and find a resolution. This approach can help bullies understand the consequence of their actions and promote empathy.

Exemplary punishment

A bully can be punished in other ways. He or she can also be psychologically counselled and made to understand what he or she has done wrong and repent for it. Expelling the bully should be the last step, not the first one.

YES

Enough is enough

When a person does wrong for the first time it can be considered a mistake, but a “mistake” repeated is a crime. By expelling the bully, we can set an example and perhaps put an end to this inhuman practice.

Threat to education

Students are taught the ill effects of bullying while still in school. If despite that someone chooses to bully others, it can be understood that he is a threat to the educational environment. Thus the only way to stop bullying is to expel the bully.
