Scientists and academicians from across the world are taking part in a conference on materials, mechanics and modelling hosted by the Mechanical Engineering department of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur.

The international conference was inaugurated by Debi Prasad Mishra, the director of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Calcutta.

Mishra highlighted the new education policy, which will make the university multi-faceted and excellent. He threw light on the subject of the conference — the application of materials, mechanics and modelling for creating a self-reliant India.

NIT Jamshedpur director Karunesh Kumar Shukla said that from ancient days till date, the development of materials has continued and its utility is increasing gradually in various fields.

The head of the Mechanical Engineering department at NIT Jamshedpur, Shailendra Kumar, shared the details of the conference.

“Ten keynote speakers from three countries — UK, USA and France —will be presenting their addresses during the conferences,” said a spokesperson of NIT Jamshedpur.

Conveners of the conference Satish Kumar and Vishesh Ranjan Kar said more than 100 research papers from India and abroad have been received for the conference. The accepted papers will be published in Materials Today: Proceedings, Elsevier.

The conference’s souvenir was unveiled by Shukla, deputy director Ram Vinay Sharma, dean academics Amaresh Kumar and the conveners.

The NIT Jamshedpur director thanked the chief guest and congratulated the conveners for organising a conference that would benefit students and the faculty alike.

Senior Systems Engineer, Applied Materials, USA; Rahul Kalyankar, Engineering Specialist, Loram Technologies Inc. USA. Perumal Kumar from Curtin University, Malaysia, chaired the session for technical paper presentations.
